Fresh cut buds in space where the humidity and temperature can be kept constant, like a closet or a spare room. Leave the birds hanging for a week or until they are dry to the touch. Now transfer it to a wide-mouthed jar and cover it with a lid. Place the jar in a dark space like a cabinet or cupboard and adjust that temperature to about 70 Fahrenheit.

Decarboxylation

To activate the psychoactive properties of THC and other cannabinoids of Cannabis, you will have to prepare it through a process commonly known as decarboxylation. If you are smoking Cannabis, the process occurs during burning. You can do it in a pan or even in the oven. It is better to decarboxylate the weed in the oven to avoid the smell.

  • Preheat the oven to 240 degrees Fahrenheit. Ensure that the temperature does not rise above 314° F as it can ruin the bud because it is the boiling point of THC.
  • Now grind or tear the weed into smaller pieces and place them in a pen so that they do not overlap.
  • Cook or bake the weed for 30 to 40 minutes or until it is golden brown.
  • Take it out of the oven or Pan and allow it to cool.
  • Add the toasted weed to a food processor or a grinder until coarse.

How to mask the smell of weed?

Using less weed at a time

The first and most important step in masking the smell of Cannabis in the kitchen is using less weed at a time when you are cooking. The more weed you use, the more smell it will cause.

Use concentrates

Instead of buds, you can also go for ready-made concentrates and already decarboxylated ones. They will not smell as much as the bud. You can also use Cannabis oil since it’s easy to use for new users as well.

Use a DecarBox

Most of the smell of weed occurs when it is decarboxylated. You can also go for this fantastic gadget made with food-grade silicone, which will keep the smell of Cannabis within. The box can easily hold upto 2 ounces of weed, so you will no longer have to cook in small batches.

Keep your kitchen ventilated.

The smell of something burning lingers on for a long time if it is not properly ventilated. Suppose you are cooking a Cannabis bud or flower. In that case, you will have to ensure that your kitchen is very well-ventilated and plenty of fresh air is coming in. Use an exhaust or Extractor fan in the kitchen to keep good air circulation and get rid of the potent smell of Cannabis decarboxylation.

Put a damp towel under the kitchen door.

Use a very old-school stoner trick of putting a damp towel under the kitchen door to limit the chances of the smell of Cannabis spreading into the rest of the house. Even though it is not a foolproof option, it will reduce the smell cost-effectively.
